Fronthaul Compression Control for Shared Fronthaul Access Networks

چکیده

There is a widely held belief that future radio access network architectures will be characterized by increased levels of virtualization, whereby base station functionalities, traditionally residing at single location, scattered across different logical entities while being interfaced via high-speed fronthaul (FH) links. For the deployment such FH links, operators are faced with challenge maintaining acceptable performance same time keeping costs low. A common practice to exploit statistical multiplexing allowing several cells utilize link. As result, in order cope resulting aggregated traffic, techniques can used reduce required data rates. Herein, we focus on compression control strategies for multiple-ceilimuitiple-user scenarios sharing We propose various methods sounding reference signal (SRS) handling, and analyze FH-aware modulation scheduling strategies. Considering full system setup, including networks, numerical evaluation conducted using 5G NR system-level simulator implemented ns-3. Simulation results show under stringent capacity constraints, optimized provide significant user-perceived throughput gains over baseline (between 5.2 × 6.9 ×). On top them, SRS handling achieve additional 2 41 percent gains.

Optical Techniques for Fronthaul Networks

This paper introduces various techniques for a new fronthaul network segment applied in centralized radio access networks (C-RAN) architecture. The promising fronthaul interfaces are described which are considered to meet physical requirements for the fronthaul network segment and to build a new radio access network solution. Various optical solutions including CPRI (Common Public Radio Interfa...

Optimal Fronthaul Compression for Synchronization in the Uplink of Cloud Radio Access Networks

A key problem in the design of cloud radio access networks (CRANs) is that of devising effective baseband compression strategies for transmission on the fronthaul links connecting a remote radio head (RRH) to the managing central unit (CU). Most theoretical works on the subject implicitly assume that the RRHs, and hence the CU, are able to perfectly recover time synchronization from the baseban...

Statistical Modeling of FSO Fronthaul Channel for Drone-based Networks

We consider a drone-based communication network, where several drones hover above an area and serve as mobile remote radio heads for a large number of mobile users. We assume that the drones employ free space optical (FSO) links for fronthauling of the users’ data to a central unit. The main focus of this paper is to quantify the geometric loss of the FSO channel arising from random fluctuation...

FttC-Based Fronthaul for 5G Dense/Ultra-Dense Access Network: Performance and Costs in Realistic Scenarios

One distinctive feature of the next 5G systems is the presence of a dense/ultra-dense wireless access network with a large number of access points (or nodes) at short distances from each other. Dense/ultra-dense access networks allow for providing very high transmission capacity to terminals. However, the deployment of dense/ultra-dense networks is slowed down by the cost of the fiber-based inf...
